IMAGINE …. A community where

… All children arrive at kindergarten ready for school  … All students achieve at or above grade level  …All adults have the education and training they need to pursue a rewarding career in a better way of life.

That is the vision of Chattanooga 2.0.

Our Lady of the Mount has teamed up with Mount Olive Baptist Church and others to support Orchard Knob Middle School, as part of the effort of Chattanooga 2.0 to improve Chattanooga’s schools. Orchard Knob Middle School has a history of being one of the poorest performing schools in the city. A majority of the students live in poverty and most lack the basic necessities of life.   With the help of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Our Lady of the Mount,  and other organizations, in addition to a new administration, there is hope for the students at Orchard Knob Middle School.

Kate Thompson and Ann Epps are spear heading our effort to help Orchard Knob Middle School.  On September 14th they and a group of volunteers will attend the school’s Uniform Fair to distribute uniforms for the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.  Before that, however, under their leadership, we will be collecting funds to buy as many uniforms as possible.  There will be a parish second collection on   August 26th-27th for this purpose.

Volunteers are needed! If you would like to help with the Uniform Fair on September 14th or some of the other possibilities, please contact Ann Epps at 423-653-4950 or epps407@gmail.com and/or Kate Thompson at 951-532-9668 or kate.thompson1204@gmail.com.
